What I do
As you may know by now, I’m a Software Engineer and Cloud Architect based near Zurich, Switzerland. I hold a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Zurich. If you want to know more, you can browse my career overview or explore some of my selected work projects.
Day to day, I design, build, and operate cloud-native systems and everything around it.
My current work spans backend services, infrastructure, delivery, operations, occasional frontend development, and the tooling teams need to ship software reliably. While frontend work is no longer as central to my role as it once was, I still enjoy it both professionally and through personal projects. I’m naturally curious and love learning new things, whether that means exploring unfamiliar technologies or deepening my understanding of something I already use.
Where it started
My path into IT began relatively late, during Gymnasium and was driven more by curiosity than natural talent. I certainly wasn’t good at it from the start. In fact, I failed my first exam rather spectacularly. It’s a fun story; ask me about it if we ever meet in person. Still, I was fascinated by the ordinary gray box in front of me (a laptop) and all the complexity hidden within it. As the first concepts began to make sense, I started translating them into simpler words. I realized that even complex technology becomes far less intimidating when it is explained clearly. That curiosity and a recommendation of a former teacher led me to want to study economics and IT at university. I began with very little IT knowledge, while the economics-related subjects came more naturally to me. This contrast motivated me to dive deeper into IT and ultimately set me on the path to where I am today.
I feel most at home where human needs meet technical possibilities.
How I work
I like technology most when it solves real problems for real people. That means thinking not only about the final user, but also about the team building and maintaining the solution. While my work can be very technical, collaboration and usability shape every decision I make. This balance has become a defining part of how I approach my work.
