Fitting Model (Men)
On
Role
This entry admittedly looks a little out of place next to the rest of my CV. And if you are wondering what a fitting model actually does, the answer is almost disappointingly literal: you put on clothes while a design team checks their fit, cut, and measurements. There is no runway or posing involved—mostly just wearing clothes, standing still, and occasionally changing into another outfit.
I stumbled into the job through a joke. A friend of mine received the posting and checked whether her measurements matched the requirements. They did not, but she suggested that mine might, so I applied for fun—and partly out of curiosity. Two days later, I was at On’s headquarters in Zurich, meeting members of the executive team and wearing the Swiss Olympic team’s collection for the 2024 Olympics.
What began as a joke turned into an unexpectedly enjoyable experience and an interesting glimpse behind the scenes of sportswear development. It also turned out to be a great fit—pun intended—as the inevitable downtime between fittings gave me plenty of time to work on my master’s thesis.
